Spot colour printing is a process used to print one or two colours on the printed page. This method is more economical as you need just one or two plates as opposed to 4 plates in full colour. This method of printing is most widely used for letterheads, business cards, NCR sets, compliment slips and invoices.

As you can see in the picture below spot colours are mixed to an exact colour specification whereas full colour process is a mixture of the 4 colours CMYK (see our separate pages on Full Colour Printing for more information).

Litho v Process

Spot colour is very useful when you have a specific Pantone® that you would like rather than the standard CMYK colours. Many blue chip clients usually require this as they have a company logo that needs to be printed in a specified Pantone® colour.

Heidelberg QuickmasterOur two Heidelberg presses are modern 1 and 2 colour SRA3 litho presses. They print with inks mixed to match the Pantone® Spot colours chosen by the customer.
